Why a specialized boxing authentication service?
The authenticators chosen to work with collectors' boxing autographs know boxing and its history as part of their qualifications. They have specialization and knowledge in boxing autographs exclusively.
Cardinal authenticator for WBC Authentication Travis Roste explains: "We can have an intelligent conversation with our customers about boxing, its history, the combatants, the situations, landscape and periods in which they fought. All of these things are important in authenticating boxing autographs. It's a must for boxing authenticators to know these things. You don't get this information overnight. It takes years and years of study of not only the autographs, but the circumstances and situations revolving around the boxer's lives. We are historians. We are voracious readers of boxing literature. We want to know all about the signer and historical timelines regarding their autographs. It is as important as the pen and ink and paper used in producing it. I am not sure that this (specialized knowledge of boxing) existed before as far as authentication on a national scale is concerned and certainly not to this degree."
"Boxing autographs consists of about a couple of hundred main autograph signers along with a few more that are not as common. We hone our craft on studying these names. We are not distracted and we are very thorough."
"We are dedicated to the boxing world. We wake up boxing and we go to sleep boxing. It's in our blood. We are always looking for opportunities to serve the collector, whether it involves new projects, ideas, expansion. The customer comes first and our no-compromise policy on how we operate is the cornerstone of our operation."
"Mr. Shawn Anderson has spent his adult life focused on one man, Muhammad Ali and that type of dedication results in a lot of gained inside knowledge. He is a tremendous resource because of his specialization in Ali signatures. Everybody knows this guy's name when it comes to Ali. When I tell collectors that he is exclusively with WBC Authentication, people will stop me in the middle of a conversation and remark that having Shawn Anderson as a resource is an incredible accomplishment and quite a coup. I agree with them, and am happy to know Shawn and consider him my friend. WBC Authentication took the time to get the top specialists who have honed their craft over decades."
Why our approach separates us from the pack.
"We don't sign the LOA if we have not inspected the autograph ourselves. Ask yourself if the company you submit an autograph to will tell you the exact name of the authenticator who inspected the signature. If a company can't or won't tell you, that in itself tells you something. Here at WBC Authentication, if the LOA is signed by one of us then you know who inspected it, period."
"Our letter of authenticity means we have put significant time into inspecting that autograph. It also means we didn't hand it off to any subordinate or non-expert out of convenience. If I or Shawn can't look at it in-person and take quality time (not just moments) to inspect the autograph, then it will not get an LOA (letter of authenticity) under any circumstance whatsoever. We aren't concerned if we lose a sale in regard to this policy as we know we will gain in the long run because of the integrity of our approach. We are in this for the duration."
"These hard line stances we take are a philosophy we deeply believe in so we can protect the collectors' best interests and they can be confident they got what they paid for. We know collectors respect that. We are the true leaders and we set the standard whether others follow our lead or not. We are proud of our strict rules even if it means we may be alone in the authentication segment of the hobby in this regard. It's a display of leadership but just as important it's doing what is right."

This page features our friend, the late Corrie Sanders, of South Africa. Corrie held a version of the heavyweight championship of the world from 2003-04 that he won by knocking out Wladimir Klitschko. He also fought Vitali Klitschko in Los Angeles for the vacant WBC heavyweight championship. Although in that instance Corrie did not prevail, Vitali called him the toughest fighter he had battled and had much respect for Corrie and his boxing skills.
Corrie was shot by robbers at a restaurant in the evening of September 22, 2012 while attending a birthday party for his nephew. He shielded his daughter from gunfire while taking two bullet strikes. He died the next morning from his injuries. We here at WBC Authentication honor our friend and great human being who always had the time to help others. He was a happy person and he wanted us to succeed in everything we did. He was in our corner for whatever we wanted to do and helped us out numerous times out of his own generosity. Boxing has never had a more humble and decent champion.
Corrie is always in our hearts and we dearly miss him.
